Art Evolution – Antonio Perez Melero
21 January – 18 March 2006

Born in Spain, the internationally renowned artist Antonio Perez Melero began his career in Venezuela where he lived from the late 1950’s until the early 1980’s.

Maintaining workshops in Caracas and New York, he is an artist who exhibits internationally. His work can be seen in numerous public collections including the Spanish Museum of Contemporary Art, Madrid, Museum of Contemporary Art, Bogata, Polygram Records, New York, the White House Collection, the American Institute of Architects, the Women in Military Service to America Memorial at the Arlington National Cemetery, Washington D.C and the William J. Clinton Presidential Library.

My works are three-dimensional constructions built mostly from wood, paper, canvas and acrylic paint. They share similar traits with architecture in that they evolve from an artistic concept realized through a disciplined process. All stages of my work are carefully planned and meticulously produced. Each small part fits intricately into the whole. The final work is an example of artistic inspiration combined with the logic of applied design.
