In Between In Between explores the idea of transformation through force, pressure, erosion and friction. Metamorphosis and the process of change are central themes within Sarah’s practice combined with an interest in organic and natural forms. Drawing is integral to her creative process and is her preferred method of image making. Through the use of abstract marks and colour she aims to explore the relationships between traditional and digital modes of drawing, sequential image making and repetition. This exhibition is the culmination of two years work resulting in a series of drawings, colourings and digitally manipulated imagery. Sarah Alex Carter is an emerging artist who lives in Aberdare, South Wales. Sarah graduated with a First Class Honours Degree in Illustration from Hereford College of Art and Design in 2000 and gained a Distinction at Masters level in Graphic Communication from University of Glamorgan in 2006. She has exhibited her work throughout the United Kingdom and has work in collections worldwide. "My work is as much about the process of drawing, the repetition of line and layering of marks, as it is about the subject matter and finished pieces themselves. I use sequence and duplication to depict an abstracted story of alteration, refinement and change. I aim to capture a fleeting moment within the process of transformation and represent this as fragile and ephemeral." |
